چکیده

Exchange biasing is studied in Co80Cr20 (CoCr)/FeMn bilayers with a ferromagnetic material granular CoCr. Unique exchange biasing characteristics closely related to the microstructures and magnetization reversal process of granular CoCr have been observed. Although the exchange field in CoCr/FeMn bilayers is inversely proportional to the CoCr layer thickness, similar to the conventional ferromagnet/antiferromagnet bilayers, the coercivity HC is found to increase with increasing CoCr layer thickness. More importantly, HC of the CoCr/FeMn bilayers is smaller than that of CoCr single layer films. r 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 75.30.Et; 75.70.Cn

Exchange biasing in as-prepared Co/FeMn bilayers and magnetic properties of ultrathin single layer films

For Co and CoNi single layer films, the coercivity is a linear function of the inverse layer thickness and has an angular dependence of a fourfold-like symmetry although only a uniaxial anisotropy exists. For both as-prepared and post field-cooled Co/FeMn bilayers, the exchange field and the coercivity enhancement are proportional to the inverse Co thickness. For as-prepared ones, the exchange ...

Coercivity enhancement in exchange biased systems driven by interfacial magnetic frustration

We report the temperature and cooling field dependence of the coercivity of exchange biased MnF(2)/Fe bilayers. When the antiferromagnetic surface is in a state of maximum magnetic frustration and the net exchange bias is zero, we observe a strong enhancement of the coercivity, which is proportional to the exchange coupling between the layers. Hence, the coercivity can be tuned in a reproducibl...

Spin Structure at the Interface of Exchange Biased FeMn/Co Bilayers

The origin of exchange biasing in FeMn/Co bilayers is elucidated using magneto optic Kerr e ect and x-ray dichroism. It is found that interaction and interdi usion between the Co and FeMn layers strongly in uence the interface magnetic structure. For example, although the bulk spin structure of antiferromagnetic (AF) FeMn is noncollinear, about 4 ML of FeMn near the Co interface appear to take ...

Rotation of the pinning direction in the exchange bias training effect in polycrystalline NiFe/FeMn bilayers.

For polycrystalline NiFe/FeMn bilayers, we have observed and quantified the rotation of the pinning direction in the exchange bias training and recovery effects. During consecutive hysteresis loops, the rotation of the pinning direction strongly depends on the magnetization reversal mechanism of the ferromagnet layer. The interfacial uncompensated magnetic moment of antiferromagnetic grains may...

Coercivity enhancement above the Néel temperature of an antiferromagnetÕ ferromagnet bilayer

Single-crystal thin films of the antiferromagnet FeF2 have been used to exchange bias overlayers of Fe. An unexpected coercivity enhancement is observed at temperatures above the Néel temperature of the FeF2. This coercivity reaches a peak value of over 600 Oe close to the Néel temperature and persists to above 300 K. The coercivity is correlated with the growth of an anisotropy in the ferromag...
